Key dates  

Recruitment and selection:

  • Applications open Monday 27 January 2025
  • Applications close Monday 3 March 2025 at 9am 
  • Selection day Saturday 29 March 2025 9am-5pm. Students shortlisted from the Team Member applications will be invited.
    • Please be aware that Eid may coincide with Selection Day. If this impacts you, kindly email us at volunteers@manchester.ac.uk so we can discuss potential accommodations.

The following dates are all compulsory.

Training and induction:

  • Training days 1 and 2: Friday 25 and Saturday 26 April 9.30am-4.00pm
  • Training day 3: Saturday 3 May 9.30am-4.00pm
  • Training days 4 and 5: Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 June 9.30am-4.00pm
  • Pre-departure meeting: Friday 18 July, time tbc, in person and online.

Team Member volunteers will also be required to spend time reaching their fundraising target and undertake the necessary pre-departure admin tasks and project preparation in the UK before going out to Rwanda.

Travel to Rwanda:

  • Departing from the UK Saturday 19 July
  • Returning to the UK Sunday 17 August

On return:

  • Returned volunteers event Wednesday 1 October 5.30-7.30pm
  • On return all volunteers will be required to engage in other returned volunteers’ activity, including writing reports and helping to promote international volunteering to other students.
