Recruitment and selection

  • Applications open: Monday 5 January 2026 at 12noon
  • Applications close: Thursday 5 March 2026 at 12noon
  • Selection day: Saturday 28 March 2026 10am - 4pm. Students shortlisted from the Team Member applications will be invited.
    • Please be aware that Eid may coincide with Selection Day. If this impacts you, email us at volunteers@manchester.ac.uk so we can discuss potential accommodations.

The following dates are all compulsory.

Training and induction

  • Training day 1: Saturday 27 April 10am - 4pm
  • Admin evening: Tuesday 28 April 6 - 8pm
  • Training day 2: Saturday 9 May 10am - 4pm
  • Training days 3 and 4: Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 June 10am - 4pm
  • Pre-departure meeting: Friday 24 July (likely 10am - 12noon) but TBC - option to join in person or online

Team Member volunteers will also be required to spend time reaching their fundraising target and undertake the necessary pre-departure admin tasks and project preparation in the UK before going out to Rwanda.

Travel to Rwanda

  • Departing from the UK Saturday 25 July
  • Returning to the UK Sunday 23 August

On return

  • Returned volunteers event Wednesday 30 September 5.30 - 7.30pm
  • On return all volunteers will be required to engage in other returned volunteers’ activity, including writing reports and helping to promote international volunteering to other students.
