Kaya Responsible Travel

Kaya Responsible Travel have volunteering opportunities with over 150 community development and conservation projects in countries in Africa, Asia, Central America and South America.  They work with community projects and locally driven initiatives that utilise volunteers to help achieve their goals, provide valuable funding and promote responsible travel in developing countries and areas of environmental concern. You can volunteer abroad with Kaya as an individual or with one or more friends.  Whichever you prefer, you are sure to make new friends, both local to your project destination and volunteers from around the world; a great way to meet new people and learn more about other cultures whilst volunteering!

Kaya Responsible Travel are planning to run overseas projects in summer 2022. Please also refer to our Frequently asked questions for more information.

They are also running remote internship opportunities:

  • In partnership with NGO's around the world;
  • Contribute to a capacity building-project for an organisation;
  • Tackle social or environmental issues in their local community.

  • Anyone 18+ can apply to Kaya Responsible Travel projects.
Projects take place all year round.  Please check the website for details of departure dates and length of projects.

All volunteers will receive pre-departure support via phone and email, as well as a volunteer's pack.
Each project has its own in-country orientation programme tailored to the needs of the project and volunteers.
  • The costs of projects vary depending on the length of project, the destination country, and the type of project.
  • You can fundraise towards the costs and advice and support will be given for volunteers who wish to fundraise to help them cover the costs.
