Supporting the student community

Get involved with opportunities to help and support your student peers.

Community Education Initiative helps children of secondary school age (11 to 15 years old) with supplementary education (KS3 and KS4 curriculums).

Its work is structured with the aim of helping young people to achieve good grades in their examinations including the GCSEs. It helps young people with their mainstream school work so that they are able to perform very well in school; and those that are doing well already can even do much better. Community Education Initiative's main goal is to help young people to reach their potential and thus eventually fulfil their dreams.

The University of Manchester Sports Volunteer Scheme supports volunteering in sports activities at the University within sports programmes, as well as with clubs, organisations and at events in the Greater Manchester area.

UniAmigos is a Student Action volunteering project with the goal to increase inclusion and diversity with fun activities that contribute to the community.

Student Action runs a huge number of student-led weekly volunteering projects and one off events helping people in the community. As students themselves, it understand that committing to a project weekly can be quite demanding alongside your degree and everything else you do, so they are very flexible. They provide online training videos, project induction sessions and additional training where needed.

Volunteer Centre Manchester provides information, support and training to Manchester residents who want to volunteer. It also supports Manchester based organisations who want to recruit volunteers, need help and advice to develop new roles, introduce/update policies and procedures or have a training need.
